Support Our Animals & Help Save Lives

As a non-profit organisation, our mission is simple: to rescue as many healthy dogs as possible and match them with loving, committed adopters like you here in Scotland. Every donation we receive plays a vital role in helping us achieve this goal. The more generous contributions we can attract, the more dogs we can bring over to safety, offering them a second chance at life in a loving home.

If you’d like to continue supporting our work beyond your adoption fee, we would be incredibly grateful if you could consider setting up a Standing Order for just one pound a month. Even this small, regular donation can make a significant difference in our ability to rescue and rehome more dogs in need.

By donating, you're helping to provide food, medical care, transportation, and the vital support these dogs need to start their new lives. Together, we can save more lives, one dog at a time.

If you're able to help, please set up your Standing Order using the following details:

Suceava Shelter

The Suceava shelter, located in a rural area of Romania, has the capacity to house up to 500 dogs, but the dedicated volunteers, led by Monica and Adina, work tirelessly to keep the numbers below this limit. If the shelter exceeds 500 dogs, the council mandates euthanasia, which pushes the volunteers to place as many dogs as possible in foster homes to save as many lives as they can.

The shelter rescues dogs from the streets, public kill shelters, and even dogs that are dumped at the shelter gates, often left to fend for themselves. Every day, the volunteers find more dogs in desperate need of help, constantly battling against the overwhelming number of animals that require rescue. Many of the dogs that come into the shelter are being socialised, wearing harnesses, and adapting to human interaction, thanks to the efforts of the volunteers. If there are any health or behavioural concerns, ADRS is contacted to ensure the dogs receive the proper care. Prior to their journey to the UK, the dogs undergo a thorough preparation process, which includes vaccinations, health checks, blood tests, spaying or neutering (if old enough), and microchipping.

They are also provided with the necessary paperwork and passports for travel. Transport runs 1-2 times a month, ensuring that these dogs are well-prepared for their new lives. Despite the shelter's constant influx of dogs and the challenges of overcrowding and limited resources, the unwavering commitment of Monica, Adina, and the volunteers gives these dogs the chance to escape euthanasia and overcrowded conditions, offering them a new life in loving homes.

Innocent Soul

Our rescue efforts extend to a privately run shelter in Romania, led by Nicol, a dedicated individual who is deeply committed to saving the lives of dogs in dire situations. Nicol rescues dogs from the streets, from owners who have surrendered them, from local veterinary clinics, and more recently, from the public shelter Codlea, where dogs face the harsh reality of being euthanised if not rescued within a very short time. The shelter is run on a small scale, allowing Nicol to provide more individual attention to each dog. Being privately operated means the dogs here are safe from the immediate threat of euthanasia, a common risk faced by dogs in overcrowded, government-run shelters. This provides the animals with a much-needed reprieve, offering them a chance to be rehabilitated, loved, and rehomed. One of the unique aspects of Nicol's shelter is the way it integrates family and community life. The dogs live in close quarters with Nicol's daughter and are also accustomed to the presence of cats. This environment gives us invaluable insight into the dogs' personalities, behaviour, and temperaments, which is crucial information for successful rehoming. For example, we can determine how the dogs interact with children and cats, making it easier to match them with suitable families who have similar environments.

While the shelter is a safe place for dogs to escape euthanasia, it is not without its challenges. As with any private shelter, funding and resources are limited, which can sometimes result in overcrowding, particularly during times of influx when dogs are rescued from the streets or brought in from high-risk situations. Additionally, extreme weather conditions can sometimes pose risks for the dogs, especially during the cold Romanian winters. Despite these challenges, Nicol does everything in her power to ensure the dogs are well cared for. They receive regular meals, veterinary care, and the attention they need to heal, both physically and emotionally.

Gina's Cats

Gina, a dedicated rescuer based in Romania, has become a lifeline for many cats in need. Operating out of her home, she provides a safe haven for rescued cats, taking them in from the streets or through owner surrenders. Her commitment to their well-being is evident in the care and attention she gives each one. All of the cats in Gina’s care are kept as indoor pets, ensuring they are safe and protected from external dangers. She takes every necessary step to ensure their health, including testing them for FIV and FeLV, providing vaccinations such as Nobivac Tricat Trio, booster, Anti-rabies , and neutering them if they are old enough. Through her tireless efforts, Gina offers these vulnerable cats a chance at a healthier and happier life.

Poundies

We are proud to support ALUK in their mission to rescue dogs from pounds, where time is often running out. In these facilities, dogs have just seven days to either be reclaimed by their owners or find a rescue placement before they face the risk of being euthanised. By partnering with ALUK, we help give these dogs a second chance at life, working to find them loving homes or safe foster care before time runs out. This urgent, life-saving work is crucial in ensuring that as many dogs as possible are given the opportunity to find a forever home, free from the fear of being abandoned or forgotten. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of countless dogs in need.
